Eltville. Very close to Eltville, in the Kiedrich church of St. Valentinus and Dionysius, there is this beautiful Madonna. The Christ Child sits on Mary's left arm. Again and again I am touched by the grace, closeness, love, and familiarity of this figure. It was carved from lime wood around 1330/50. Nothing is known of the master, but he left something timelessly beautiful.
